How it works

The same programme, with something extra

The accredited pathway isn’t a separate course. You attend exactly the same sessions as every other SoT student, and the only difference is that you submit three written assignments over the two years, each around 1,500 words.

Those assignments are marked to undergraduate standard by a dedicated marker, with written feedback on each submission. Students who complete them the required standard receive 30 credits of advanced standing from Nazarene Theological College, recognised as equivalent to three first-year undergraduate modules for future study at NTC.

The £200 fee covers both years in full: there are no hidden costs or per-assignment charges.

Do I need to register separately?
No. Everything is handled through SoT. Just let us know when you sign up that you’d like to take the accredited pathway and we can take it from there.
Who marks the assignments?
A dedicated marker appointed by SoT, assessing work to first year undergraduate standard with written feedback on each assignment.
What do I get at the end?
NTC recognise the two years as equivalent to three first-year undergraduate modules – 30 credits of advanced standing for future study at NTC.
Do I have to decide upfront?
You can join the pathway from the start, or switch to it partway through. If you’re unsure, just get in touch and we can talk it through.
Who it’s for

Is the accredited pathway right for you?

The pathway suits students who want to go a step further than just receiving great teaching, but who want also to engage with the material in their own time, develop their written theological thinking, and have something to show for it.

Those considering further study
If you’re thinking about further theology training, this is a chance to dip your toe in the water and the NTC credits give you a great starting point.
Those who want to stretch themselves
For some people the appeal of the accredited path isn’t in what it leads to but is in the opportunity to challenge yourself and engage deeply.
Those who learn by writing
The assignments give an opportunity to engage with the course material in a new way. If writing helps you think, this pathway gives that an outlet and a purpose.
Developing Leaders
As you are growing into leadership responsibility in church, the accredited pathway is a great way to solidify your theological foundations.
